Marvel Mystic Mayhem Beginner Guide

Mystic Mayhem Beginner Guide

Marvel Mystic Mayhem is a brand-new mobile strategy game by NetEase that throws your favorite Marvel heroes and villains into chaotic, card-driven battles across the multiverse.

In this game, you’ll build a squad of three Marvel characters and take on enemies using a mix of auto-battling and skill/ultimate cards that you control. Every hero you choose, every combo you execute, and every decision you make in battle can turn the tide. With epic ultimates, intense boss fights, and twisted versions of familiar Marvel characters, there’s always something new around the corner.

Battle System

Your heroes attack automatically during combat, but you control when to activate their skills and ultimates.

  • Ultimates require energy, which is generated automatically over time. When a hero’s energy bar is full, you’ll be prompted to use their ultimate. Some heroes’ skills and passives can affect energy generation.
  • Skills, on the other hand, use a shared mana pool for the entire team. Each skill has its own mana cost, and using too much mana carelessly can leave you without enough for crucial moments. Mana also regenerates automatically.

Note: There’s also an auto-battle option where heroes automatically use their skills and ultimates.

Team Size

To enter combat, you need to build a team of 3 heroes. You’ll fight various enemies in different missions and events.

Weaknesses and Resistances

Some enemies have specific weaknesses or resistances to different types of damage. Understanding and exploiting these can greatly increase your effectiveness in battle.

There are two main damage types in Marvel Mystic Mayhem:

  • Special Damage (Blue)
  • Physical Damage (Orange)

Enemies can fall into one of three categories:

  1. Special Weakness
  2. Physical Weakness
  3. Normal (No Weakness)

Here’s how it works: check image

Example :

Example:

  • If an enemy has Special Weakness, using Special Damage skills will deal 30% more damage, while Physical Damage will deal 30% less.
  • If an enemy has Physical Weakness, Physical Damage will get a +30% bonus, and Special Damage will be reduced by 30%.
  • Normal enemies take standard damage from both types.

Tip: Always check the enemy type before starting a battle and build your team accordingly. Matching the right damage type to an enemy’s weakness can be the difference between victory and defeat.

Obstacles

During battle, you’ll encounter obstacles that can block your path. Some heroes have dash skills that let them bypass these obstacles directly, while others may need to take a longer route.

Special Battlefield Elements

  • Chaos Crystal: Boosts enemy Chaos attributes. Use tactics to destroy it quickly!
  • Wanda’s Chaotic Circle: Deals massive AoE damage. Either defeat it or move out of its area.
  • Ultimate Interrupt: You can stop an enemy’s ultimate move by interrupting their casting in time.

Heroes

Heroes are the playable characters in the game. Each one belongs to a specific class and rarity, which define their role and strength.

Classes (4 total)

  • Striker – Ranged damage dealer.
  • Fighter – Melee damage dealer.
  • Defender – High-survivability tank.
  • Controller – Buffs allies or debuffs enemies.

Rarity

Unlike other games, Marvel Mystic Mayhem uses a star system instead of traditional rarities like “Epic” or “Legendary.” Currently, you can obtain 2-star and 3-star heroes.

Hero Attributes

Each hero in Marvel Mystic Mayhem has unique stats that affect how they perform in battle. There are 4 Basic and 10 advance attributes in each hero.

Basic Attributes

  • HP – When it reaches 0, the hero is defeated.
  • DEF – Reduces incoming damage.
  • ATK – Determines skill damage (though some heroes scale off HP or DEF).
  • Recovery – Affects healing rate.

Advanced Attributes

  • CRIT Rate % – Chance to deal critical damage.
  • CRIT DMG % – Extra damage dealt on a critical hit.
  • DMG Bonus % – General bonus to damage dealt.
  • DMG Reduction % – Reduces damage taken.

  • Physical DMG Bonus %

Skill System

Every hero in Marvel Mystic Mayhem comes with 4 main abilities:

  • 2 Active Skills
  • 1 Ultimate Skill
  • 1 Passive Skill

Let’s break them down:

Active Skills

These are the regular skills you’ll use most during battles.

  • They cost mana to use (your team shares one mana pool).
  • Each skill has a range and a specific effect (like damage, healing, or debuffs).
  • Mana regenerates over time, but you have to use it wisely. Spamming skills can leave you empty when you need them most!

Tip: Plan ahead! Don’t waste all your mana early—save some for key moments or tougher enemies.

Ultimate Skill

This is your hero’s big, flashy move—usually super powerful.

  • Ultimates use energy, not mana.
  • Each hero builds energy automatically over time, and once it hits 100%, you’ll get a pop-up to use it.
  • Some heroes generate energy faster or have skills that help with energy gain.

Tip: Try to time your ultimates for boss fights or when you’re surrounded. It feels awesome to wipe out a group!

Passive Skill

You don’t control this one—it just works automatically in the background.

  • Passives usually activate under certain conditions (like after using a skill, getting hit, or during a cooldown).
  • They add buffs, healing, damage boosts, or other effects that help your hero without needing input.

💡 Tip: Check your hero’s passive to understand how they shine in battle. Some passives can change the whole playstyle.

Strengthening Your Heroes

To progress through game content, you’ll need to power up your heroes over time. There are several ways to make your team stronger …

  • Leveling up
  • Evolving
  • Equipping Artifacts
  • Equipping Highlights
  • Activating Soul, Mind, and Heart upgrades
  • Upgrading Artifacts and Highlights

Highlights

Highlights are special enhancements or gear that boost your hero’s power, stats, or abilities. Some Highlights provide bonus effects when equipped by specific heroes.

Artifacts

Artifacts replace the traditional gear system. You can equip up to 2 Artifacts per hero, and they provide major boosts to power and performance. Artifacts are earned through gameplay, such as story missions and special modes.

Choose artifacts wisely to maximize your hero’s potential.
